From 6-8th of October, a Civic delegation from Bath and some BATA members visited Alkmaar for the Ontzet and Grote Kerk celebrations.
We all had a wonderful time in Alkmaar and were particularly pleased to be able to see the barrel piano at the Town Hall. The bus tour was very informative and thought-provoking. Many of us came away with ideas on how social housing and recycling could be done differently in Bath. The events were spectacular, we loved the enthusiasm of the children in the re-enactment of the occupation and liberation during the breakfast event. The performance of Amigo at the tatoo left us wondering how we could bring them to Bath, and the laser show finale that we viewed from the Kanaalkade was breath-taking.
We all felt that the bonds of friendship between our two cities have been further strengthened during our time in the beautiful city of Alkmaar.
